Takata Recalls More Airbags
The international airbag manufacturing concern known as the Takata Corporation has been forced to issue a recall on more than 40 million airbags that have already been installed. Samsung Points Finger at Battery Supplier
Samsung reports findings of its own internal investigation and research into the potential explosion hazard that shrouds the reputation of its flagship cellular phone, the Galaxy Note 7. After two recalls, the phones were taken off the market. 97% of the phones were successfully recalled and the remaining 3% are rendered off-line to further discourage use and potential safety hazard. General Motors Ignition Switch Litigation
Since 2014, General Motors has recalled about 12.8 million vehicles because of faulty ignition switches. Over 11 million of those vehicles are believed to be in the United States. The issue of the ignition switches pivots on product liability law involving a mechanical part in the switch that can accidentally turn off the engine of an affected vehicle. Physicians Observations Preceed Generic Drug Recall
Cleveland Clinic’s cardiologist, Dr. Harry Lever, noticed repeat occurrences patients reporting chest pain when switched off of brand name Toprol and onto generic equivalents of this beta blocker used to treat high blood pressure. Once returned to Toprol brand version of the drug, the chest pains disappear. Dr. Lever reported this to the FDA but had no proving evidence aside from his observations. One producer of peanut butter who supplies many food stores is linked to several salmonilla outbreaks and resultant recalls. FDA orders plant production to be suspended. People from 20 states have been affected by salmonilla linked to food product from this single source.
