Zofran, as well as the generic versions of ondansetron, have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of vomiting and nausea that is caused by radiation and chemotherapy. However, it has also been prescribed to pregnant women for the “off-label” use to treat nausea caused by morning sickness. Unfortunately, studies have shown that it may be unsafe for pregnant women to take Zofran, especially during their first trimester, due to risk of injury to your baby.
