Springer & Lyle: Open for Business During the COVID-19 Crisis

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we currently do business. At Springer & Lyle, we recognize that there is still a need for legal services, many of which are essential, so we are working on behalf of established clients and we are available to take on new clients.

How We Are Doing Business During the COVID-19 Pandemic

While we wait to see what the future will bring, here are some of the procedures we are using to make it safe for us and our clients to work together.

• We are open for business. We encourage the wearing of a mask and the practice of social distancing. We are seeing clients and prospective clients in person by appointment only. We are happy to discuss your situation with you to determine whether your issues can be handled remotely or if a personal meeting is necessary.
• We are open with staff members in the office during regular business hours. Some of us are working remotely. This means we are available for telephone meetings and teleconferences during regular office hours as usual and can schedule office appointments when necessary.
• We have Zoom available for teleconference meetings with clients individually or when group meetings are necessary.
• Family law, personal injury, business disputes, probate litigation, and other mediations continue. We have been able to conduct them through phone conferences and by using Zoom. Our Zoom meetings can be conducted with “breakout rooms” for each party, which means the mediations can be conducted much like those we conduct in person.
• With a worldwide pandemic, it’s only natural to think about the need for a Will and other estate planning documents.  We are available to help with those services through phone conferences or Zoom. As explained below, we will arrange a safe-distancing execution ceremony when your estate planning documents are finalized.
• The Courts are using video conferencing systems, which allow us to attend and participate in court hearings by using our computers or cell phones. We have the equipment and software necessary to attend hearings.

Necessity for In-Office Services

There are times when an office visit will be necessary. For example, if you need a will, it must be signed by witnesses and notarized in order to be valid. We can arrange for an office visit where we have established social-distancing, handwashing and disinfectant policies that enable us to complete these services in ways that will meet your needs while keeping us all as safe as possible under the circumstances.
